Tips/steps for paving building
Let us have a look at various steps and tips for the process of constructing outdoor paved patio, driveway, or lay a path and even give some finishing to the garden edging in your home.
- Plan on paper: First decide where you want the pathway to be and bring it on a graph paper by making a scaled drawing of the same.
- Choose the right pavers: Choose the pavers of your choice that are suitable for the kind of construction you want. They vary in color, size, and shape so you can select the right one for yourself. You can shop pavers online as well.
- Give an outline: The area where the pavement is to be made should now be given an outline that can be done with the use of wire. Garden hose can also be used to outline the project area. You should contact a registered contractor and a paving designer who can help in this case.
- Calculate the excavation area: Keep the pavers little above the surrounding ground. And then make a calculation of the excavation area.
- Lay the base of correct depth: Well compact the base with the base material that refers to the course and crushed stone which is irregular on the edges. The base should be the perfect one to lay the foundation for future garden use.
- Place and secure restraints: To give long life to the pavement, use edge restraints that are made up of aluminum, plastic or steel. Fix them around the area’s perimeter.
- Lay the sand: Sand hold the pavers and keeps them in place. So smooth up coarse sand that should have a depth of 2.54 cm to 3.81cm. Make sure the depth is uniform all over. You can use plain white sand, or else, go for a combination of coarse gravel and sand mixture.
- Begin laying the pavers: Finally, you can lay the pavers. While doing so the sand should not be disturbed. The pavers should be flat.
- Compact pavers, fill sand, seal them: Run plate compactor over the pavers to make them properly snuggled into the sand. And lastly, fill the joints with sand and seal pavers with a good sealing product to ensure lower need for maintenance in the future.
Certain points to take care of before starting

- plan for the movement o0f the earth’s surface.
- use correct mortar additives.
- do not store pavers on the site incorrectly.
- use right mixing methods and mortar ratios.
Paving should not be done during heavy monsoons, as the pavers and the connecting glue needs to dry up within a certain period of time. Make sure you contact registered and certified pavers only to take care of the paving solution.
